Sehr zufrieden äusserten sich Veranstalter, Besucher/-innen und Künstler/-innen über die Basler Artyou-Ausstellung 2011. Besonders erfreulich endete die Urban Art Plattform für Alexander Becherer: Er gewann den mit 5000 Franken dotierten Artyou- Förderpreis. Die neu geschaffene Auszeichnung wurde von der Basler Kommunikationsagentur kreisvier gestiftet, die den Preis auch ins Leben gerufen hatte.
«Alles was wir haben» lautet der Titel der 1,45 Meter hohen Siegerskulptur aus den Materialien Gips, Holz, Polystyrol und Kartonage. Sie zeigt eine scheinbar betende Figur, ein Mischwesen aus Mensch und Tier, eingehüllt in zahllose dreidimensionale Logos aktueller Lifestyle-Marken.
«Becherers eindringliche Figur konnte unmöglich ignoriert werden», bemerkt Beat Schöneck, der Juryvorsitzende und Artyou-Partner. Trotz oder gar wegen ihrer beklemmenden Wirkung sei sie ein Blickfang während der gesamten Ausstellung gewesen.   Die Skulptur thematisiert die mächtigen, ubiquitären Big Brands, die uns im Alltag nicht nur begleiten, sondern unser Leben bisweilen zu lenken scheinen. «Eine Persiflage an die Götzenanbetung, der Befürwortung des markendominierenden Zeitgeistes», wie der Künstler Alexander Becherer anmerkt. Tiefe und Nachhaltigkeit entsteht durch die Konfrontation des Betrachters mit der spannungsvollen Ambivalenz der Skulptur. Oder wie Beat Schöneck es ausdrückt: «Dadurch findet die Provokation subtil, gleichwohl aber beharrlich statt.»
Hintergrundinformationen:
Alexander «Biserama» Becherer, 1983 im Schwarzwald geboren, studierte nach einer Handwerkslehre an der Akademie für Bildende Kunst in Lahr. Seit 2008 ist er freischaffender Künstler. Seine Werke waren in Einzelausstellungen bereits in London, Cannes und Düsseldorf zu sehen. Sein Hauptthema ist der Blick hinter Maskeraden von Statussymbolen, Markenkult und Kleidungsstilen.

Die Ausstellung „Urban Art. The New Contemporary Art“ möchte im institutionellen Rahmen regionale Urban Art-Künstler vorstellen. Die Bandbreite der ausgestellten Arbeiten von Dome, dust, Biserama, David Lucco, Disk, Nest da Foe, smy, Fabian Bielefeld,Johannes Mundinger, Index-Centric und Tom Brane reicht von Skulpturenund Bildern bis hin zu Fotografien und natürlich Urban Art in den Techniken des Realismus, der Stencilkunst, des Surrealismus, der Abstraktion oder auch der Typographie.

Die Ausstellung öffnet am 16.09.2011 um 19:00 Uhr. Es sprechen der Sozial-und Kulturbürgermeister Ulrich von Kirchbach und Kurator TomBrane. Im Anschluss besteht die Möglichkeit einer persönlichen Begegnungmit den Künstlern bei der Eröffnungsfeier in der Jackson Pollock Bar, Sedanstraße 8.

Seit 2004 setzt sich Artstübli dafür ein, die urbane Schweizer Kunstszene in diversen Alternativlocations in Basel zu fördern und einen lebendigen Austausch zu pflegen. Mit der jährlichen Plattform «Artyou – Urbane Kunst Basel» und der Galerie-Serie «Artyou Selection» ist ihnen das gelungen: in einem vielseitigen Mix aus etablierten Namen, überraschenden Neuentdeckungen und unterschiedlichsten Stilen wird dem Volk regelmässig bewährte Kreativarbeit näher gebracht.

Die Location für die etablierte Jahresausstellung «Artyou – Urbane Kunst Basel» präsentiert von Swatch ist wie 2008 und 2009 ein bewährter Ort: in der Halle des Ackermannshofes Basel, bekannt als ehemaliger Standort der Volksdruckerei. Inmitten von diesem einmaligen Ambiente zeigen 14 junge, frische und talentierte Künstler/-innen vom 8. – 11. September ihre neuen Werke.

Auch an der 6. «Artyou – Urbane Kunst Basel» erhalten die Besucher/-innen einen einzigartigen Querschnitt durchs aktuelle urbane Werkschaffen serviert.

Brandneu ist der Artyou Förderpreis: Eine Jury aus Kunst und Kultur prämiert erstmals eine oder einen der teilnehmenden Künstler. Der mit CHF 5000.– dotierte Preis zeichnet eine besonders frische und mutige ausgestellte Idee aus. Gestiftet wird der Förderpreis von der Basler Kommunikationsagentur kreisvier. Back from a very inspiring week at Palazzo Orsini, in the outback beyond Rome.
High quality works and installation can still be visited there up until April 19, 2011.My installation at Pallazo Orsini is called "The Research". It features plaster and cotton objects 'launched' from a huge slingshot-like catapult positioned in the middle of the room.The installation is about the problem of black and white thinking, a rallying cry for better and more innovative thought processes and a work about the rejected idea.

Giving space to twelve national and international artists is the aim of the exhibition Beyond the city walls. Through side events, workshops and debates Beyond the city walls suggests a deep view on the artistic phenomenon called “post-graffiti”.

The artists: Alessandro “Etnik” Battisti, Alexander BISERama Becherer, BERSERKER, Alan De Cecco “Soda”, JOYS, Made514, Francesco Pogliaghi, Sergio Sees, Ale Senso, Tawa, Fabio Weik, 2501.

The event will open on March 26 with site specific inedited works; these will be especially created for the evocative Renaissance rooms of Palazzo Orsini, on the occasion of the second edition of ESPOSIZIONE NAZIONALE DELLE ARTI CONTEMPORANEE “The city and the human being”, “Centro” Prize 2011, dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of Italy’s unification and rewarded by Mr President of Italian Republic: Giorgio Napolitano.

Bomarzo Council on this occasion, will offer to the artists a residency period and a free space - released from the art system and market - where they can realize their own works.

The exhibition is aimed at showing the artists’ results conducted on their last researches, as well as their styles development in different genres and expressive forms: from painting to installation, from lettering to graphic art, from illustration to the video. The theme “The city and the human being” will be a starting point and a source of inspiration for our young talents, currently promising artists in the contemporary art world and rappresentatives of that artistic phenomenon called “post-graffiti”. Will be investigated at more levels, the relationship between the artist and the outside-inside space, from the urban background to the studio: the city is meant not only as a built-up area but as public space and social place, where the graffiti pheonomenon was born, lives and regains.

To complete the exhibition, among workshops and site specific works – on March 28th – artists, curators, together with high schools, art schools and universities students will participate to a free entry Round Table, chaired by Marco Tomassini, Doctor of Research: a meeting to explain, compare and discuss around the issue of the writing phenomenon from the artistic and sociological point of view.

Over the last few days i visitited a good artist-friend of mine, david monnlor aka diskone ,near Zürich in Switzerland.A genius in the photorealistic-spraypaint-technic.
It' been a while ,since we last met and did a wall together.This time we chose a concept in which we were working very closely together in a collaboration-piece.
Great days with a lot of fondue,raclett,good conversations, fun and inspirations.

The last days in berlin, i presented my new ,limited print series of around 40 pieces.
High quality c-prints on 200g paper. Signed and numbered.

Each print is over-subscribed in a mix of spraypaint and acrylic.
The idea behind was, to show the process from the composition of the different plaster pieces to the finished sculpture work.
Notes, background-infos and rejected ideas are involved in form of papers in every unique print.

Yes, they are urban, yes, they belong to street art.
Yes, they urge us to like the masquerade.
Die Verbindung der beiden beschränkt sich nicht nur auf eine starke Verwurzelung im Graffiti. Inhaltlich ist das Hauptthema beider Werkgruppen die Maskerade, der Blick hinter die Fassade, die gerne über Statussymbole oder Kleidungsstile suggeriert wird. Was bei DOMEs Leinwänden die filigrane Zeichensprache und feingliedrige Wesen mit marionettenhaften Zügen sind, sind bei BISERamas Skulpturenbauten komplexe Objektschichtungen zu Mischwesen aus Mensch und Tier, die subtilen Humor transportieren.
Dass auch in den Lebensläufen der beiden Künstler Parallelen auszumachen sind, ist wahrscheinlich nur ein Zufall und unterstützt doch irgendwie das Vorhaben der Doppelausstellung. (Auszüge aus Quelle: www.xhoch4.de)

Back from a long weekend at the Art Basel 41 which tooks place in Switzerland for 4 days.
New inspirations,a bockwurst and a cold beer for 16 euro,impressive art dealers from austria,crossed frogs,realistic sculpture-stuff,important conversations,a lot of real bronze,beuys wear,mighty clans,reality checks,new november-projects, and good installations.
Was a hard thing to choose a few shots from the mass of pictures i took there.

Hype, Trend oder Subkultur? Urban Art ist Teil unserer dynamischen Kulturentwicklung. Trotz des Popularitätsschubes der letzten Jahre wirtschaftlich jedoch noch immer nicht auf dem Niveau des klassischen Kunstmarktes.

Das wollen wir die Macher der Messe STROKE verändern und gleichfalls neue Trends setzen. Urban Art wird heute in Galerien und Museen gezeigt und in Auktionshäusern gehandelt und ist Teil einer neuen globalen Kunstbewegung ausserhalb des Establish-ments. Urban Art ist wohl die erste Kunstbewegung, deren Historie, Bedeutung und Potential in direktem Zusammenhang mit einer weltweiten Verbreitung durch die Medien und die Macher selbst existiert und stetig wächst, sie ist die wohl erste Kunstbewegung, bei der nationale Grenzen oder kulturelle Unterschiede keine Rolle mehr spielen.

Nichts destotrotz agieren immer noch ein Grossteil der Projekte und Galerien in einem eher halbprofitablen Bereich. Leidenschaft und Hingabe sind nach wie vor wichtigere Eigenschaften als betriebswirtschaftliches Rechnen und Kalkulieren. Dass hat natürlich zur Folge, das es dieser jungen Generation noch schwer fällt, sich der Dynamik und den Regeln des klassischen Kunstmarktes zu stellen. Hier sehen wir den Ansatzpunkt für STROKE.

Die Messe STROKE.02 ist ab Donnerstag, dem 27.05.2010 für alle Kunstinteressierten öffentlich zugänglich. Wir freuen uns über jeden, der sich die mehr als 55 internationalen Aussteller und ihre mehr als 1.000 Werke ansehen möchte.

In den drei Städten Dortmund, Bochum und Essen wird Streetart nicht nur auf vielfältige Weise ausgestellt, sondern es finden auch Live-Präsentationen, Diskussionsveranstaltungen und Workshops mit zentralen Akteuren der Szene statt.
Die Fördermaschinenhalle 1/2/8 auf der Zeche Zollverein in Essen wird für sechs Monate zum Kommunikationszentrum und Archiv. Eine Pop-up-Gallery präsentiert in Wechselausstellungen Vorreiter und Nachwuchs der internationalen Szene.

Unter dem Motto „Zerfall und Zukunft“, dass im Zusammenhang mit der Restrukturierung und kulturellen Neubelebung eines Industrieareals von über 120.000 Quadratmetern steht, werden sich sieben junge Künstler mit ihren Werken präsentieren: Christian Krämer(*1975, Karlsruhe), Rafael Gerlach (*1977, München), Alexander Becherer, (*1983, Lahr), Dirk Reinbold (*1982 Rheinfelden, Baden), Clemens Behr (* 1985 Koblenz), Hendrik Beikirch (*1974 Kassel) und Il-Jin Choi(*1981 Moers)

In der Woche vom 1. bis 8. Mai werden sich die sieben Künstler vor Ort unterschiedlicher Medien wie Malerei, Grafik, Skulptur und Videokunst bedienen, um ihre Werke anschließend zur Vernissage am 8. Mai in einer stillgelegten Produktionshalle auf 500 Quadratmetern auszustellen. Dabei wird deutlich werden, wie die unterschiedlich arbeitenden Künstler ihrer individuellen Interpretation des Mottos „Zerfall und Zukunft“ Ausdruck verleihen und einen roten Faden zwischen den ausgestellten Werken und dem postindustriellen Umfeld spannen.

Der Veranstaltungsort, eine ehemalige Produktionshalle von Hukla, ist dabei nicht nur der architektonische Rahmen der Gruppenausstellung, sondern auch Atelier auf Zeit und Entstehungsort der Kunstwerke. Im Prozess der Vorbereitung für die Ausstellung werden die unterschiedlichen Techniken und verwendeten Materialien der sieben Künstler kontrastreich in Spannung zueinander gebracht.

Experienced a few weeks ago we had that one of the best and most cherished of our scene is ill with cancer.
Unfortunately Sigi von Koeding aka DARE has lost the fight and died that night in Basel. We are stunned and

Inspirated by the Chinese Calender who brings us in 2010 the Year of the Metall Tiger.

The Tiger ( 虎 ), is one of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese Calender.
He is said to be lucky vivid, lively and engaging.
Tigers do not find worth in power or money. They will be completely honest about how they feel and expect the same of you.
They always land on their feet, ready for their next act in life, pursuing it with unyielding energy and hunting it infallibly.

Time to look back and complete this exciting year, i do more than 15 shows, with a nice exhibition in my home-region.
The last show for this year takes place in Freiburg.
Drux & Friends from Freiburg put this bunch of artists together to do a fine december-show.
Opening is on Friday 4. december 19h at ISW Freiburg.

A new Expo is coming in November.
Im proud to be a part of a groupshow called "Graffiti Repositioned" together with SatOne from Munich and Atem from Frankfurt.
The Opening Show takes place at the 20th of November at the "AtelierFrankfurt" in Frankfurt am Main and is runing for 5 weeks.

Gezeigt werden drei aktuelle künstlerische Positionen, denen die affektive Nähe zum modernen Graffiti-Writing noch anzusehen ist. Die Nähe zum „Tag“ und zum „Piece“ (in anderen Worten zum Graffiti-Duktus) ist in den Arbeiten eher bewusst heraufbeschworen denn verleugnet oder gar mühevoll wegtrainiert worden.

Trotz dieses gemeinsamen Nenners sind die Arbeiten (sei es Malerei, Zeichnung oder Skulptur) von SATONE, BISERAMA und ATEM indes alles andere als austauschbar. Denn die Zusammenstellung der Künstler fußte auf der Prämisse, dass jeder für sich Graffiti neupositioniert und weiterentwickelt hat.

SATONE beispielsweise definiert Graffiti nicht ausschliesslich über das typografische Element, sondern hat darin die Möglichkeit gesehen eine einzigartige Formsprache zu entwickeln, die einen faszinierenden Mittelweg aus Technokratie und Bebilderung von Phantasiewelten begeht. BISERAMA wiederum liebt das Spiel mit der Zweideutigkeit, der Maskerade, bewusster und unbewusster Provokation sowie Gegensätzlichkeiten. Attribute, die man durchaus als Graffiti-Inhärent bezeichnen könnte und sich in seinen Skulpturen niederschlagen. ATEM hingegen geht es um META-Graffiti. Der Strich und der Graffiti-Duktus sind elementare Bestandteile seiner Arbeiten. Die Funktionsweise von Graffiti wird dabei offengelegt und gleichzeitig um inhaltliche und formale Aspekte erweitert.

Get asked to join a project with the theater in the bavarian town ingolstadt.

They looking for different artists to give one photo of theire work for one production of the theater to promote.
It's a good thing,so i giving my permission for this.

The theater choose my work for the production: "genannt gospodin"

Here's a little roundup of the story:

Philipp Löhle ( 1978) circles the neuralgic points of our globalized, capitalistic present in his production: Consumption, work, relations from the view of a Rebell, without sacrcasm, but with much comical joke.
Neither militantly, nor aggressively or instructing Gospodin lives its dogma with a consequence, which puts the life lies of its environment apparently opened. Apparently. Because also Gospodins luck functioned in the long run only” limited “.

Philipp Löhle (Jahrgang 1978) umkreist in seinem Stück die neuralgischen Punkte unserer globalisierten, kapitalistischen Gegenwart: Konsum, Arbeit, Beziehungen aus der Sicht eines Verweigerers, ohne Sarkasmus, aber mit viel skurrilem Witz.
Weder militant, noch aggressiv oder belehrend lebt Gospodin sein Dogma mit einer Konsequenz, die die Lebenslügen seiner Umwelt scheinbar offen legt. Scheinbar. Denn auch Gospodins Glück funktioniert letztlich nur »begrenzt«. Ein ernüchternd unsentimentales und poetisches Experiment.

Stroke.01 - Urban Art Fair Munich

after UK i will doing new works for the "STROKE.01"-Urban Art Fair who takes place in munich from the 29.-31. of october.

STROKE.01 is the first European art fair for Urban Contemporary Art. After checking lots of possibilities they decided to choose a former BMW car dealership on Dachauer Strasse near the Stiglmaierplatz, just 10 minutes from the railway station. The total area covers more than 2000 sqm and is split into 3 levels with different types of rooms. It's easy to reach the location using public transport from anywhere in Munich.
